Wolfgang Petersen (Troy, Outbreak) is down to direct a new Sci-Fi thriller called Uprising.The plot centres on the resistance efforts of humankind after Earth has been occupied by a powerful alien race. Charles Leavitt (best know for Blood Diamond) is on writing duties.
“[Wolfgang Petersen is] just the right director to handle Uprising’s mix of action, suspense and drama,” said Columbia president Doug Belgrad.
Petersen best known for Das Boot also has many other films to his name including Enemy Mine (that small and evocative Sci-Fi piece), Poseidon (that one with the boat and wave) and The Perfect Storm (the other one with the boat and wave).
Most exciting for me is that Petersen is currently in pre-production with the film adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s seminal sci-fi novel Ender’s Game. Card has also written the screenplay for this, the levels of awesome this film might reach are staggering.
