Steve Gerber has passed away...

A sad day for fans of Transformers and G.I. Joe around the world, as Steve Gerber past away Sunday, February 10, 2008, due to complications from pulmonary fibrosis. He was only 60 years old.

Not only will he be missed for all his work on shows that ruled many children’s television schedules but also for his contribution to the world of Comics. Steve had a huge impact on marvel having successful runs on 'Sub-Mariner', 'Daredevil' and 'Morbius the Living Vampire'. DC soon took notice and published 'Nevada' and 'Hard Time', both of which he helped create and reached critical acclaim with.

But his biggest gift to us all (or curse depending on how you look at him) was Howard he duck. Not only did Howard bring him worldwide renown it also brought a lot of pain into Steve’s life, from long winded legal battles to the agony of seeing his character butchered in a film he had very little to do with. But even now critics still considered his run classic even going as far to say “Howard the duck is a character only Steve could make work”.

My feelings go out to his friends and family. My thanks and thoughts also go with Steve for the influences and fun he brought into my life.

This seems to be a year for talent passing away (ed-and its only February).
